He might be a little late in the time range restriction, but I think that Yul Brynner is more than crush worthy. I know we like full heads of hair and beards here, but… gosh, just look at that pose. A famous actor of the 50s, he became known for his distinctive voice and shaven head, his most famous performances being The King of Siam in The King and I, which he performed thousands of times on Broadway. He was that adored.
Early on, he told the press all sorts of awesome stories of his family’s background to jump start his career (though he was really Russian-Swiss with a little Romanian and Mongol blood), starting off as a small-show actor and model, one of his most famous shoots being a nude by the George Platt Lynes. After The King and I, he got cast into other now famous roles, such as Ramses II in The Ten Commandments, one of the most highest grossing films in history (still!).
Sadly, he died of lung cancer, and towards the end of his life, he performed many “farewell” shows of his most beloved roles, one of his last works being an anti-smoking ad that had the following quote:
“Now that I’m gone, I tell you don’t smoke. Whatever you do, just don’t smoke. If I could take back that smoking, we wouldn’t be talking about any cancer. I’m convinced of that.”
Except for this fine man. Unf.
i freaking LOVE Yul Brynner
